Software Engineer's Desk

The beauty of a slab dining table is in its simplicity, a tabletop and a base.  If the same approach is taken with a slab desk, the result would be a mess of cords dangling around the tables edges.  To remedy this, I took several additional steps including: lasercut grommets, a hidden storage recessed into the tabletop, a channel from the hidden storage to the each leg, and finally hollow legs for the cords to pass through.  The base is a modified design of the folded steel plate base that typically graces our slab dining tables.  To address the client's many computer cables, I modified the base from the what is typically two pieces to what is now seven pieces.  Depending upon the angle that a viewer approaches the base, it may appear solid or hollow.
